Getting to Abergavenny

Abergavenny is easy to get to from most parts of the UK. It has it’s own railway station which is on the Welsh Marches Line. This makes it easy to get to from Manchester and the north or London and the south. If you are arriving from London then you need to change at Newport.
Road transport to Abergavenny is also very good with dual carriageway most of the way from the M4 at Newport. There is also a fast Stagecoach connection between Cardiff and Abergavenny with regular services and with WiFi facilities.

from Birmingham: The travel time by train is between 2 hours 15 minutes and 2 hours and 35 minutes. There are two possible routes you could take.
The first is with Cross Country Trains which take the Birmingham New Street – Newport – Abergavenny route using Arriva on the Newport to Abergavenny section.
Or you could take the London Midland Service with the Birmingham New Street – Hereford – Abergavenny route with Arriva Trains providing the Hereford – Abergavenny route.

from Manchester: The travel time between Manchester and Abergavenny is about 2 hours 30 minutes. there is a direct train route between Manchester Piccadilly and Abergavenny run by Arriva Trains.
Travel by coach to Abergavenny:
Abergavenny is on the X4 stagecoach Hereford to Cardiff route which offers a regular highspeed coach service to connecting services to the north and south. If you are looking to visit Abergavenny by coach from London and the South then National Express and MegaBus provides direct services to Cardiff for the change to Abergavenny. With fares from as low as £9.00 return coach travel can be a very cheap way to get to Abergavenny especially for backpackers, but do allow for between 4 and 5 hours travel time.
Travel by air to Abergavenny:
The two closest international airports to Abergavenny are Cardiff International and Bristol International. Although Cardiff International Airport is slightly closer to Abergavenny (44 miles) than Bristol Airport (54 miles) in reality there is little difference in connection times.
