Adding Content – your first blog post

Our third video tutorial on easy web design shows how to start to add content to your web site skeleton. Because our first site is based around Wordpress this first tutorial on adding content shows how to add a blog post.

Understanding the difference between a blog and a page is important at this stage of development. A blog is a topical posts and tends to be related to a certain period in time. It can, for example, be a review or some local news. A blog posts tends to become more ‘dated’ over time. A page post is much more stable information and is not time dependant. You would use page posts for your core information.

Organising your web pages

Before starting to add content it is important to sit down and think about what your web site aims to do and what it aims to communicate in order to organise it correctly. This helps visitors to find their way around your site and helps search engines get a better understanding of your site.

This video tutorial will show how to set up a category and sub categories in Wordpress and how to put in your first blog that contains an image.
